We are seeking a passionate safety leader to develop, manage and execute company-wide safety initiatives covering employee safety from coast-to-coast.  Additional responsibilities include managing a variety of ForTec compliance programs.  This highly collaborative position is a great opportunity for a high energy, creative, and results oriented safety professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and lead a proactive comprehensive workplace safety program responsive to Company trends and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze and identify safety issues and trends. Develop and execute effective solutions that can be implemented across a multi-state environment.
  • Engage employees in the safety process. Lead a Safety Committee to identify safety opportunities, best practices, and solutions.
  • Act as a first responder point of contact for all accidents and injuries and serves as the liaison for all involved parties.
  • Manage all vehicle accident and worker’s compensation claims. Partner with insurance carriers and third parties to effectively manage claims.
  • Conduct root cause investigations into all company accidents and injuries. Develop local and company-wide corrective actions.
  • Participate in insurance claims meetings, taking a lead role in presenting ForTec’s safety programs and initiatives.
  • Evaluate equipment and movement of equipment to identify and prevent safety hazards.
  • Create employee safety awareness through effective communications and initiatives.
  • Write, communicate and maintain safety policies and procedures.
  • Establish annual safety goals and metrics, regularly reporting on progress.
  • Collaborate with the Training Department to partner on safety training initiatives, documentation, and delivery. Develop and deliver new hire safety orientation.
  • Develop and execute safety recognition and reward programs.
  • Manage compliance of specific healthcare related requirements.
  • Manage all safety regulatory requirements and compliance.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety or a business related field; nationally recognized safety professional certification a plus
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience developing and implementing safety programs
  • Multi-state / multi-facility safety experience
  • Experience in Worker’s Compensation rules and claims management
  • Strategic minded while being very hands on to resolve day-to-day issues
  • Ability to identify, analyze, resolve and follow-up on problems effectively and urgently
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience managing projects from beginning to end, meeting deadlines and objectives
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Ability to occasionally travel, including potential overnight travel

Overall Environmental Health and Safety responsibility for a growing industry leader.  Ideal candidate will have 4+ years of industry EHS program experience.  The position will be a mix of both Safety and Environmental.  This role will report to the Site Leader and will sit on the Site Leadership Team.  Must have strong leadership skills and show the ability to communicate with all employees.  There are no direct reports.  Must have strong time management skills and understand how to prioritize both day to day as well as develop a strategic long-term EHS development and CI plan.  BS Sciences, Engineering, Safety or related is required.  Certifications: CSP, CIH, CHMM etc is a plus.

Description

Under minimal supervision of the Operations Manager the ESH Coordinator ensures that the Division’s ESH program meets all requirements of local, state and federal regulations and that all mandated training is developed and performed ensuring a safe, healthy, environmentally friendly workplace for the employees and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Help establish a Zero injury culture by developing and performing appropriate training.  Sharp presentation skills ensure clear, concise messages are communicated in an interesting manner.
  • Evaluate and control potential workplace hazards by maintaining a sound ESH program.  Setting priorities and working to an agreed upon set of goals helps ensure maximum success.
  • Establish a Zero discharge culture by training employees to eliminate potential for waste spills and create responsive measures to address any spill.
  • Maintain all permits, licensing and associated documentation required by regulatory agencies or the company.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies or company resources in order to stay current with regulatory changes and assure compliance.
  • Submit all reports as required by regulatory agencies or the company.
  • Submit documentation of all accidents or near misses and communicate such instances throughout the company.
  • Schedule and present quarterly update to Operations Manager of all ESH concerns.
  • Serve as Division contact for ESH communication.
  • Liaison with Operations Manager to review any project undertaken by division employees or outside contractors to address any potential ESH issues.
  • Maintain clean, safe, environmentally friendly work environment.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Health and Safety or Environmental related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with all OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet
  • Possess excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated Insurance Carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Loss Control Consultant. The Territory includes Eastern or Central Ohio. The position requires the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Delivery of high quality multi-line risk evaluations and loss analysis of exposures and controls related to Workers’ Compensation, Property, Inland Marine, Umbrella, Builders’ Risk, Products/Completed Operations, Commercial Auto, Garage Liability/Dealer’s Blanket and General Liability.
  • Have a team-based approach working with other internal associates and departments, as well as our agency partners, to provide effective risk improvement consultations to Commercial policyholders that positively influence loss ratios, relationships, profitable new business growth and account retention.
  • Deliver collaborative, consultative-based Loss Control services that provide value and solutions to policyholders while working with them to move service issues forward and improve the account’s loss exposures and performance and overall cost of risk.
  • Conduct on-site visits of existing and prospective policyholders and complete comprehensive survey reports to evaluate operations, exposures and controls and provide an overall assessment for adequate risk selection, pricing and application of techniques for profitable Underwriting results.
  • Complete value-based correspondence to summarize visit activities that includes solutions-based discussion and development of meaningful recommendations to minimize policyholder exposure to loss.
  • Act as a technical resource for Underwriters, other internal departments, agency partners and policyholders. Assist policyholders with identifying exposures and implementing effective controls to minimize risk.
  • Provide value-added services to assist in overall policyholder risk reduction strategies such as effective safety culture implementation, risk identification, program development assistance, safety training, resource assistance and loss analysis evaluation.
  • Market Loss Control department and Auto-Owners competitive differentiation to policyholders and agency partners with a focus on building positive and lasting relationships to bring in and retain profitable business.
  • Assist in the evolution of the Auto-Owners Loss Control Department by contributing technical skills and knowledge, expertise, ideas and working on projects to assist in achieving our vision. Mentor, coach and train new and less experienced Loss Control associates.

  • Possessing relevant designations such as ALCM, OHST, ARM, CFPS, CIH, ASP and/or CSP
