Must have 2+ years of plant EHS experience (focus on Safety).  Position will be part of a (3) person EHS Department and report into the Plant Safety Manager.  The facility employs over (900) non-union employees and this role will support the safety process by planning and implementing EHS policies and ensure the overall safety and health of plant associates. 

Expertise must include a strong emphasis on safety including BBS, accident/incident prevention and investigations with the ability to build strong working relationships within the facility.  Candidate should have basic working knowledge of environmental compliance.

ADP – Risk & Safety Consultant Job Description

The Risk & Safety Consultant will provide loss control and workplace safety consultation and OSHA compliance guidance to clients of varying sizes and complexities. This role requires a good knowledge of occupational safety, knowledge of occupational health and a working knowledge of state and/or Federal OSHA compliance regulations.

This person will effectively evaluate the client’s worksite to determine workplace hazards, evaluate the effectiveness of workplace hazard controls, provides recommendations to improve hazard control and improve workplace safety efforts. Assist clients with OSHA compliance. Provides clients with guidance with respect to their safety documentation needs and helps clients with compiling documentation needed for an effective injury and illness protection program. Provide onsite safety awareness training as mandated by OSHA regulations. Routinely assists clients with guidance on accident investigation protocols and loss analysis. Provides virtual safety awareness training to our client to increase product/service penetration and client retention.

He/She is an integral part of the client acceptance process. Works directly with our Sales Team. Conducts onsite risk and safety evaluations at prospective client locations and reports the results directly to the Client Acceptance team. Provides support to the Risk Audit team by proving information needed to properly class code client employees. He/She provides Service Excellence and works collaboratively with our other Client Service teams including our HR team and our Sales team.

  • 5-10 years of practical loss control experience as Loss Control Representative working for an insurance carrier, other insurance-related business or Professional Employer Organization (PEO) or Administrative Service Offering (ASO).
  • Appropriate job experience in an industrial setting as a safety professional may be substituted for Loss Control Representative work for an insurance carrier, other insurance-related business, or PEO/ASO experience.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • Post graduate education in risk management, engineering, safety, or industrial health discipline maybe substituted for experience requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygience, Engineering, Risk Management or related field.
  • Current Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional( CSP), Associate
  • Risk Management (ARM) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and web-based software applications.

Summary: Plans and coordinates health and safety program requiring application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and implements programs and policies for monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards at the facility.
  • This position has multi-site responsibility.
  • Surveys, compiles, and analyzes data relating to occupational and environmental health issues such as chemical exposure, radiation, smoke, fumes, noise, temperatures, dusts, vapors, mists, gases, solvents, lighting, and ergonomics which are known or suspected of being real or potential detriments to health.
  • Performs field and safety measurements, safety evaluations, and hazardous waste evaluations.
  • Develops or provides input to hazardous material communications, including maintaining material data sheets.
  • Maintains monitoring instrumentation and equipment.
  • Implements or recommends control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.
  • Directs workers engaged in field and laboratory verification of compliance with health regulations.
  • Provides technical guidance to management, union and employees regarding health related problems and correct use of protective clothing or accessories.
  • Monitors the company’s health standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Analyzes injuries, identifies root causes, and develops and implements changes necessary to eliminate issues.
  • Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.
  • Develops and facilitates training for workers on issues related to health and safety.
  • Leads safety meetings between Union and Company, identifying and implementing plant wide areas for improvement.
