Northern Ohio ASSE Chapter Three Year Long Range Plan 2003-2006

The Northern Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers is the local chapter of a global association providing professional development and representation for those engaged in the practice of safety, health and the environment and providing services to the private and public sectors to protect people, property and the environment.
In addition to fulfilling its core functions, the Chapter shall also implement and maintain the following specific long-range objectives within the geographical area:

a) To maintain the established scholarship program with Cuyahoga Community College's Environmental Health and Safety program and provide scholarship funds on an annual basis beginning the 2002-2003 year and continuing annually providing there are sufficient available funds as determined by the Executive Board.
b) To continue to provide an ASP / CSP preparation workshop on an annual basis while promoting the value of professional development and professional certification to the safety professional.
c) To expand awareness among local safety professionals of the Northern Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. This will be done by improving, expanding, and increasing the frequency of the Chapter newsletter: implementing and maintaining a chapter Web-site, as well as expanding and improving communications via the electronic distribution of the newsletter and meeting notices to other professional memberships, including local human resources organizations, engineering organizations, fire protection organizations and safety councils.
d) To improve the general public's awareness of ASSE by making the Chapter Communications (Media) Committee a viable and high profile function. This will be accomplished through a continued involvement with the Greater Cleveland Safety Council's Safety Day at the Zoo, as well as communication to local media the National ASSE HQ’s press releases and concerns of relevance to the local community.
